Yard of the month
The Yard of the Month awarded by the Fannie Marchman Garden Club is 809 Mimosa, the home of John and Doris Parker. Parker was an excited recipient, who was surprised anyone noticed his small, yet colorful front yard. He started gardening after they retired, when caring for an elderly parent restricted other activities. Their front yard has been blooming for the last couple months with winter-hardy flowers in containers. A few daffodils and some just-emerging perennials are showing by their driveway. They have an impressive backyard with newly built greenhouse, raised beds, fire pit with a stone seating area, summer shade seating and grilling area. John’s wife, Doris, is very proud of all John’s work. (Courtesy photo)
