Yellowjackets host cross country meet
Among the many activities at Mineola schools last week, the athletic department hosted the 2023 Yellowjacket Invitational cross country meet.
Sophomore Raylie Peebles led the girls cross country team with an eighth-place finish in a time of 13:28.4.
Her Lady Jacket teammates recorded finishes as follows: Brianna Palacious (14:13.96), Caroline Castleberry (14:17.62), Audrina Galaz (15:05.83), Yareli Hernandez (15:28.13), Destiny Gandy (15:57.70) and Desiree Gandy (17:03.71).
The Lady Jackets finished fifth overall.
Gilmer took the team win, while Kilgore’s Ruby Almanza posted the best time – 12:51.35 in the 3,200 meters.
Isaiah Colorado of Van took the individual boys 5,000 kilometer blue ribbon with a finish of 15:58.8.
Kilgore, Terrell and Farmersville finished in the top three team spots.
Yellowjacket runners competing were Grayson Potts (19:35.21), Sebastion Klodnicki (20:01.85), Javier Sanchez (20:26.78) and Kameron Hanson (22:02.85).
