The Mineola Yellowjackets were overwhelmed by a cascade of West Rusk scoring in the first half of Friday’s 42-21 loss at Bruce Bradshaw Stadium. Three first-half Mineola turnovers and an inability to stop a potent West Rusk offense created a deficit too large to overcome. Anyone looking for an evening of exciting, adrenalin-filled fun needs to come out and watch Lady Jackets when take on the Quitman Lady Bulldogs volleyball team. Last week’s match between the Highway 37 county rivals, a match which Quitman won 3-1, demonstrated all the best things about high school athletic competition. Energy, teamwork, focus, emotion … it was all on display by both squads. The scores were 25-13, 25-27, 25-19, 25-22. more
The Lady Jackets wound up their first round of district play with a straight set loss to the neighboring Edgewood squad last Friday. Despite the loss, the Lady Jackets continued to display improved play in a number of areas especially play at the net. more
