The Mineola varsity boys and girls track teams were crowned champions of district 12-3A at the district meet hosted April 11 at Rains High School.

It was the first district championship for girls track and field in the history of the program. Head coach Bill Self stated, “This year we had the numbers, talent, focus, and work ethic to win the first girls team district championship.”

Alba-Golden captured second in the girls meet, and Quitman placed fifth. In the boys meet, the Bulldogs took fourth and Alba-Golden finished fifth. more
Lady Bulldog Reiny Luman blasted a double deep to left center to knock in the winning run in as Quitman defeated Alba-Golden 5-4 on April 2. The walk-off win put a cap on a fine softball game between two evenly matched team and gave Quitman its first district win of the season. more
