Jackets fall to Chapel Hill in shootout

The Mineola Yellowjackets were not mathematically out of the playoffs, but the odds were minuscule. Nonetheless, a relaxed and focused Jacket side took the pitch against the Chapel Hill Bulldogs and very nearly produced a season-defining upset. After a full time 1-1 tie, the Jackets were defeated in a shoot-out 6-5. more

Dean recognized as 12-3A most valuable

Mineola’s Sabria Dean added another honor to her long list of accolades, earning the District 12-3A Most Valuable Player in girl’s basketball. Freshman Cacie Lennon of Alba-Golden was named Freshman of the Year. more

Mineola junior Jonah Fischer was named the District 12-3A boys Most Valuable Player while teammate freshman Dawson Pendergrass earned Freshman Player of the Year and fellow freshman T.J. Moreland received accolades as the Newcomer of the Year. more

Defending state champions receive stern test from Yellowjackets in regional quarterfinals

A storybook comeback fell short in Mineola’s 68-53 loss at the regional-qualifying playoff last Tuesday against Dallas Madison. The game featured intense physical play, excellent shooting and high drama. more

Mineola powerlifter runnerup, advances to girls state meet

Izzy Tresca of Mineola placed second in her weight class at the regional high school powerlifting meet Saturday in Fairfield and qualified for the state meet. more
