2024 schedule announced for Mineola mini-train runs
The Harry Meredith Special will get underway on Saturday, March 30 at Iron Horse Square Park in Mineola for the 2024 season, with the Easter train. It will be held in conjunction with the Methodist Church easter egg hunt.
The Mineola Landmark Commission, which operates the park, has expanded the mini-train runs to incorporate various community organizations.
Normal train runs will be on the second and fourth Saturdays, and the train is always free to ride.
Operating hours vary by season.
April and May runs as well as September are 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with the schedule shifting to 9 a.m.-1 p.m. in June, July and August.
Fall runs are later to accommodate various holiday events.
April, June, July, August and September runs will be on the second and fourth Saturdays.
May’s first run will be on the 4th for the May Fiesta event downtown.
Halloween trains are Oct. 19 and 26 from 6-9 p.m. and on the 31st for downtown trick-or-treating from 5-7.
There are no runs in November, and Christmas holiday events include the return of the snow hill on Friday, Dec. 6, the train on Christmas parade day Saturday, Dec. 7 and Christmas trains on Dec. 14 and 21, all from 4-7 p.m.
