A-G school board buys more land

In a special session conducted Thursday, April 18, the Alba-Golden School Board entered into a contract to purchase 20 acres on the north side of the campus.

The unanimous, 6-0, decision approved the purchase of the acreage at a price of $270,000. The parcel has road frontage along County Road 2377 to the south and County Road 2378 to the east. The section abuts land already owned by the district to the west, purchased two years ago.

From a birds-eye, the plot runs along the north side of CR 2377 opposite the football field and extends to the north/south running CR 2378. The open pastureland envelops a power substation which is generally opposite the entrance to the baseball field.

Superintendent Shelby Davidson noted, “We are very happy to have the opportunity to make this purchase. It will give the district significant flexibility for many years to come and will ensure that all options may be considered when facility decisions are made.”

Davidson advised that the school has been interested in this property for some time, and that the timing was right to make this commitment.

Trustee Kristopher Quintana was absent.
