Alba city council terminates employee
The city of Alba is in search of a new water-wastewater operator.
The city council voted unanimously Monday to terminate Kenneth Anglin, an employee of the city for almost seven years.
The move came after a closed-door meeting with the city attorney and public works director.
The position will be advertised through several avenues.
City Attorney Jim McLeroy announced that he will be moving to South Carolina.
The council approved Leigh Thompson of Sulphur Springs as the assistant city attorney and the municipal court prosecutor.
McLeroy said he will remain available through Zoom until Thompson can transition to city attorney. He has been the city attorney for at least 15 years.
Thompson prosecuted the city’s first case in municipal court since 2011 on Tuesday.
The council accepted the $9,400 bid from Burgos Paint to repaint the interior of city hall and relocate the door between the council chambers and the police department.
The door will be moved a few feet so that there is no longer direct access to the police offices.
