Artist Alley dedication Saturday

Posted

Art pieces are going up this week in the latest project by Wood County walls and Murals.

Artist Alley in Mineola extends two blocks west of Pacific St. in the alley between Broad and Commerce Streets.

The exhibits will be celebrated with a reception and ribbon cutting Saturday, July 20.

The reception will be held at 6 p.m. at the Horsefeathers Gallery, 121 E. Commerce St. The gallery backs up to a section of the alley.

The ribbon cutting will follow at 6:45.

The first installation is an ironhorse-themed wheat paste print, a form of temporary street art.

It is one of eight created by art students from the University of Texas at Tyler.

The prints are hand drawn, transferred onto fabric and temporarily glued to a wall using wheat paste.

Additional wheat paste, as well as other styles of art installations, will be going up all week from local high school students, members of the Mineola League of the Arts, and area artists Karen Musgraves, Dennis Howard, Nathan Witt and others.
