Billy Ray Sears 1933-2020

Services for Billy Ray Sears, 87, of Alba were held at 3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 20, 2020 at Lake Fork Baptist Church, Alba, with Bro. Chris Horton officiating.

Interment was in Rest Haven Memorial Park, Rockwall.

Mr. Sears passed away Sept. 17, 2020 in Sulphur Springs. He was born Jan. 27, 1933 in Rockwall to John Kelly and Lena Elizabeth Parker Sears. He married Billie Jean Gilbert on Jan. 15, 1954 in Rockwall. Billy served in the United States Army and was a veteran of the Korean War era. He drove an 18-wheeler for 32 years and also worked at Rockwall ISD as a maintenance man for 13 years. He was a member of Lake Fork Baptist Church of Alba.

Billy was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Barbara Graem; two brothers-in-law, Melvin Graem and Robert Gayler; and sister-in-law, Elaine Sears.

Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Billy Jean Sears of Alba; two sons, Michael Sears and wife Kimberly of New Boston and Dwayne Sears and wife Danette of Sulphur Springs; two brothers, Bobby Jack Sears of Marble Falls and Tommy Kelly Sears and wife Becky of Oklahoma City; sister, Betty Gayler of Nacogdoches; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Memorials can be made to the Lake Fork Baptist Church Building Fund.

The family received friends Sunday, 2 p.m., at the church.
