The Fannie Marchman Garden Club selected the home of Phyllis Veitch at 421 West Buchanan Street as Yard of the Month. Veitch has lived there since 2009 and has put in all of the garden beds herself. She has a tiered concrete fountain overflowing with impatiens that spill into a ground level bed that includes asparagus ferns and variegated ginger. She has hydrangeas, ferns, azaleas, turks cap, iris, palms and many other perennials and in her backyard vegetable plant beds. She also has an iron pot in her yard artistically planted with cardinal vines underscored with a crop of wandering jew plants.
