The Quitman Bulldogs varsity baseball team had a tough week as they faced off with the district-leading Harmony Eagles last Tuesday and Friday. The Bulldogs lost 10-0 on Tuesday and 9-0 on Friday.

On Tuesday, the Bulldogs held their own in the first inning. The Eagles got on the scoreboard in the bottom of the second inning on a line drive to centerfield. The Bulldogs continued to hold their own until the bottom of the fourth inning when Harmony scored four more runs to lead 5-0. After holding off the Eagles in the fifth inning, the Bulldogs struggled in the sixth inning, with Harmony scoring two of their five runs on errors.

The Bulldogs then took on the Eagles at home on Friday. The Bulldogs started off strong in the first inning when Davis Watson connected with Canin Peppers for the first two outs. The inning ended with a great catch by right fielder Jaxon Wilson.

Harmony fared better in the second inning, scoring three runs as the Bulldogs struggled with errors in the infield. Quitman continued to struggle as Harmony scored two more in the top of the fourth inning including a run scored on a wild pitch. Going into the fifth inning leading 5-0, Harmony continued their offensive assault on the Bulldogs adding four more runs to their total.

Quitman battles Mineola this week on Tuesday and Friday with the fourth-place playoff spot to be decided. The final regular season game is Friday in Quitman.
