Chamber gives annual progress update

From a redesigned and updated website to enhanced marketing efforts, the Mineola Chamber of Commerce addressed its missions of enhancing the business environment for its members while serving the community and visitors through events.

President Kelsie McGilvray outlined the past year at last Wednesday’s annual membership meeting.

She noted that more than 2,500 visitors contacted the chamber office, which serves as the county visitor’s center, including more than 1,000 in person.

Chamber membership continued its upward trend in 2023 with growth of 56 new members to a total of 228.

McGilvray announced new board members elected were Elida Boyer with J.T. Tree Farm, elected to a second term, and Deborah Mushock with Reel Inn Lodge.

Among the new features of the website are ability of members to place openings on a job board, and separate calendars for chamber events and for other community events in an attempt to help eliminate conflicting events.

The chamber will host its annual awards banquet on Feb. 22.
