The classic thriller Wait Until Dark will be the final regular production in the 2018 season at Mineola’s Lake Country Playhouse.

Set in a basement apartment in New York City in the 1960s, the action revolves around the attempts of three thieves to retrieve a doll filled with heroin that had been unwittingly smuggled across the Canadian border. While Sam Hendrix is away, the three bad guys terrorize his blind wife, Susy, and a neighbor’s daughter as they try to get the doll. But Susy has a plan: knowing nightfall will give her an edge, she must wait until dark to turn the tables. The play was made into a film starring Audrey Hepburn in 1967.

Written by Frederick Knott, the play is directed by Brett Murphy-Weaver, who is also in the cast. The production also features Cindy Karch, Daniel Robinson, Randy Parrish, Ricky Phelps, Christa Kratzmeyer and Kelly Weaver.

Performances are Sept. 21, 22, 23, 28, 29 and 30. Friday and Saturday shows will be at 7:30 p.m. with Sunday matinees at 2 p.m. The box office will open one hour prior to each show. Tickets are $12 for adults and $6 for students. Discounts are available for groups of 10 or more. Phone the box office at 903 569-2300 for reservations.

Lake Country Playhouse presents all its shows at the Historic Select Theater, 114 N. Johnson St., in Mineola.
