Commissioners approve jail plumbing emergency repairs
In a special meeting Monday, Wood County commissioners approved emergency repairs to the sewer system at the jail.
Precinct Four Commissioner Russell Acker said the sewer line had collapsed and the extent of the repairs is unknown. He expects the minimum cost to be $5,000, but doesn’t know how much it could run. The limit before having to go out for bids is $50,000.
Acker said the Texas Commission on Jail Standards allows 48 hours for repairs to be approved, which doesn’t leave the county enough time to solicit competitive bids.
