Commissioners OK tournament agreement with river authority

The Sabine River Authority of Texas’ lakeside complex will serve as headquarters for the Toyota Bassmaster Texas Fest at Lake Fork in May. The Wood County Commissioners Court OK’d an agreement last week.

Texas Fest is scheduled May 2-6 as one of nine regular season tournaments in this year’s Bassmaster Elite Series. The Wood County Industrial Commission has agreed to be lead host on the 2019 Bassmaster Texas Fest at Lake Fork in conjunction with Emory Tourism and the Lake Fork Chamber of Commerce.

Also, commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the submission of a grant request for first-responder equipment through the Wood County Electric Cooperative Operation Roundup program.

In personnel actions, William Brandon Baade was hired as first assistant district attorney effective April 2. Brenda Hightower Smith resigned as court reporter for the 402nd District Court effective March 29. Cassie Condrey was hired as court reporter effective April 15.

James Gillen changed positions from deputy to CID sergeant at the Wood County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) effective March 30.

Diana Ramirez and Hallie Moore received salary increases in their part-time positions at the Wood County Tax Office effective March 18. Edward Craig was hired for temporary help at the Precinct 3 Road Barn effective March 18.
