Last week’s meeting marked the last Commissioners Court session for County Judge Bryan Jeanes. To honor him, he was presented a plaque for his 16 years of service to Wood County.

“It’s a pleasure to work with these guys. This is truly a family. I am a cog in the machine. It’s been a privilege to serve all of you,” Jeanes said.

County Judge-elect Lucy Hebron will step into the role on Jan. 1.

Commissioners thank Jeanes for his service to Wood County

Last week’s meeting marked the last Commissioners Court session for County Judge Bryan Jeanes. To honor him, he was presented a plaque for his 16 years of service to Wood County.

County Judge-elect Lucy Hebron will step into the role on Jan. 1.

In other news, commissioners awarded the Lake Hawkins RV Park lease agreement contract to Ryan Eaton.

The court approved the Juvenile Probation Department’s trade-in of a 2004 Chevrolet Trailblazer for a new 2018 Ford Escape. A Wood County Sherriff’s Office’s trade-in of six 2014 Dodge Chargers for three new vehicles was also approved.

The CodeRED Weather Warning service for Wood County was approved for 2019 renewal. This service issues alerts from the National Weather Service to those who are signed up for the program, Wood County Fire Marshal and Emergency Manager Tully Davidson said.

Bylaw amendments of the Wood County Industrial Commission were tabled due to concerns from commissioners, Jeanes said.

Road permit #2172 for standard logging in Precinct 4 was approved.

A public hearing for the revision of lots 236, 264 and 265, section eight at Holly Lake Ranch was set for Jan. 28 at 10 a.m.

William B. Baade made a presentation about the denial of his pay order for serving as an attorney pro tem. Baade said he requested $275 an hour for his work, which was above the approved payment.

He agreed with the denial by Jeanes because his request was not in accordance with the fee schedule for court-appointed attorneys. Baade urged commissioners to follow the schedule for all appointed attorneys. Baade will submit a new pay order request, and Jeanes said he would be happy to review it.

The following items were also approved by the court:

-Cole Hudson was hired as a deputy at the Wood County Sheriff’s Office effective Dec. 17;

-Andrew Morrison was transferred from jailer to jailer-sergeant at the Sheriff’s Office effective Dec. 8;

-Elaine Lewis retired as the assistant auditor effective Nov. 30;

-Toni Ogg was hired part-time as the deputy district clerk effective Dec. 3;

-Payroll of $462,066.59;

-Health and dental claims of $76,840.83;

-Accounts payable claims of $877,551.10.
