Community Halloween events

The Mineola Area Chamber of Commerce is hosting Trunk or Treat on Thursday, Oct. 31, from 5-8 p.m. Decorate your car and yourself and line up on Commerce St. and South Johnson St. The event is open and free for all organizations, businesses, individuals and downtown merchants to participate. 

The Mineola Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch will remain open from 11 until dark, and the Iron Horse Square mini-train will run from 7-9 p.m. 

Dress up the kids and come to Downtown Mineola for a safe and fun Halloween.

Quitman

The Quitman Chamber of Commerce has two fun events planned for the community to celebrate Halloween. 

On Saturday, Oct. 26, there will be plenty of family fun for all ages at the “Haunting on the Square” in downtown Quitman from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. The north side of the square will the site for all of the Halloween fun.

There will be fun and games, lots of candy, a costume contest, a scream contest, a photo booth and even an evil laugh contest. 

The chamber is also sponsoring the annual Quitman Chamber of Commerce Candy Walk with from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Oct. 31 with Halloween treats given away from local businesses and the courthouse. Little ghosts and goblins are encouraged to get out and enjoy the event.

Look for pumpkins at the participating businesses.
