Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to FM 2869 for a theft. The complainant stated a 2000 Mariah boat was missing along with the trailer is sat on. The pair had been parked in his driveway and were last seen by the complainant at approximately 10:30 pm the previous evening. The value of the missing boat and trailer is $10,000. This case has been forwarded for additional investigation.

Deputies Justin Wallis and Donivan South responded to a report of an assault on CR 1988. Deputy Wallis spoke with the victim of the assault who advised her boyfriend's son assaulted her following a verbal exchange over items he was throwing in a fire pit. According to the woman, she was hit with a stick and knocked to the ground. The woman retreated to her residence and a short time later the suspect began hitting the side of the trailer at which time she grabbed a machete for protection and confronted him. Exiting her residence, the woman saw the man carrying speakers and a galvanized pipe. The woman stated she told him the speakers belonged to her at which time he dropped them and began sticking her in the head and hands with the pipe he was holding. The woman further stated she attempted to defend herself with the machete but the man took it from her and struck her in the stomach at which time she ran to the county road screaming for help. Deputy South made contact with a pedestrian on the county road who matched the description of the suspect. After speaking with the man, and locating the pipe and machete used in the assault, Bryan Dewayne Ellis, 27, of Yantis, was arrested for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and was transported to jail without incident.

Deputy Terri Altman was dispatched to CR 3540 for the recovery of a stolen vehicle. Altman spoke with the reporting party who advised two men (one of which was known to her) came to her house and dropped off a pickup truck saying it was messed up and they needed to leave it there. According to the woman, the men were acting strangely so when her husband arrived home and she told him about the incident, he advised her to call and report it. A routine check of the pickup's VIN showed it to be stolen from Louisiana. A wrecker was called and removed the pickup to the impound lot at the Sheriff's Office pending return to its rightful owner.

Deputies Dustin Moffett and Terri Altman responded to CR 3428 and Hwy 80 in response to a request for backup from an officer with the Hawkins Police Department. According to the HPD officer, she received a call from a man who stated he had a traffic related run in with another man who attempted to run him off the road. HPD located the caller, as well as the accused party, and arrived in time to observe one man swing a knife at another. After speaking with all parties, Moffett arrested Courtland James Sewell, Jr., 18, of Hawkins for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

Deputy Tony Ingram was dispatched to Diamond Sports Marine for a theft report. According to the owner, a boat which was at the business for repair, had items missing from it. Two depth finders, a trolling motor, and a Power Pole and pump, valued at $9,700, were missing from the boat which also sustained damages amounting to $500 related to the theft. One item of evidentiary value was collected at the scene. This case has been forwarded to CID and remains under investigation.

Deputy Steven Fields took a report of theft of copper from a complainant who has property on PR 8571. The complainant stated he witnessed a white male driving a blue four wheeler on his property and watched to see if the man would enter a building on the property. According to the complainant he then witnessed the man take off pulling copper behind his ATV. Entering the building, the complainant noticed that panels and piping had been stolen and broken open. The man attempted to follow the ATV but was unable to locate it. Several items of evidentiary value were collected at the scene and forwarded to Investigations.

Deputy Aaron Warren was dispatched to CR 2140 in reference to a threat. According to the complainant she received a threat from a female subject related to the jailing of the female subject's brother. The threat, posted on Facebook, threatened not only the complainant but her children as well. The woman was unable to produce the message and agreed to email it to Warren later. This case is now on hold pending receipt of the email from the complainant.

Deputy Aaron Warren took a theft report from a complainant who is in the process of building a barn on Loop 564. The man stated he returned to the property after a few days absence to discover three ladders and a box of nails missing from the work site. The thieves are believed to have gained access to the property by climbing over a fence and gate that were found shut and locked. This case has been forwarded for additional investigation.

Lt. Robert Holland took a theft report from a man who resides on CR 3230 who stated sometime in the past two weeks someone had entered his home and taken a 9mm Smith and Wesson handgun from his bedroom. According to the man, he is seldom home due to working in the oil field therefore cannot pinpoint the exact time the gun was taken. Entry into the home was gained through an unlocked door. This case has been forwarded to CID and remains under investigation.

Deputy Austin Cryer was dispatched to a structure fire on CR 3900 and arrived to find the fire department on scene and the blaze extinguished. According to firefighters at the scene, the fire appeared to be accidental in nature starting in a plug on the back wall of the residence into which several cords were plugged. Contact was made with the owner, who was away at the time of the blaze. The scene was photographed and the Fire Marshal notified.

Deputy Austin Cryer took a report of theft from a woman with rental property on CR 2298 who stated that her long-time renters had moved out of the residence when the man discovered there was a warrant for his arrest. The home's owner discovered the man's son had been staying at the residence for the past several weeks hosting parties. The owner further stated she had arrived to make the house ready to rent and discovered appliances were missing and the whole house was trashed and damaged. Information was recorded about a possible location of the original renters and the case was forwarded to an investigator.

Deputy Austin Cryer took a report of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle from a complainant on CR 3450 who called to say she believed her grandson had taken her car and did not have permission to do so. Deputy Cryer informed the woman he would head her way to search for the car and asked her to call back should the grandson return with the car. At approximately 3:00 AM the woman called to say her grandson had returned with the car but never had permission to take it and she wished to pursue charges against him as this was not the first time it had happened. Cryer arrived at the woman's house to find the accused grandson in the front yard. Lee Andre Wesley- Veal, 19, of Hawkins was arrested for unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and was transported to jail without incident.

Deputy Aaron Warren was dispatched to a residence on US Hwy 69 for a theft report. According to the complainant, three ladders had been taken from behind his residence. The complainant further stated the ladders were last observed at the property several days prior. This case has been assigned to an investigator.

Deputy Steven Fields took a report of burglary of a building from a complainant who oversees property on PR 8569. According to the woman the house belonged to her deceased daughter and she is now the caretaker of the residence which has remained unoccupied since her daughter's passing in December. The woman further stated she had not been to the residence in two weeks and was notified by her son, who was mowing the lawn, that he had discovered the central heat and air unit missing. Checking the inside of the house, he found the vent for the unit missing. Fields took photographs at the scene and recorded information provided by a neighbor about two unfamiliar vehicles seen at the residence recently. This case remains under investigation.

Sgt. William Burge was dispatched to CR 3588 in reference to an assault which had just occurred. According to the victim, she had been assaulted by her husband's ex-wife when she attempted to escort the woman from the property following a verbal altercation between her husband and his ex over child custody. The victim stated she had coffee thrown on her and she was pulled into a vehicle by the hair and was hit and kicked several times. Burge observed obvious injuries on the woman consistent with her story but the victim stated she did not wish to pursue charges. An incident report was completed for documentation purposes.

Deputy Donivan South arrested James Frazier, 29, of Palestine for criminal trespass following a call to Jarvis College. According to security officers at the college, Frazier had been asked to leave the campus on two occasions but had returned a third time at which time he was detained. The college security officer stated he would like to pursue charges against Frazier for criminal trespass. The officer also handed over three different ID cards which had been produced by Frazier, including a TJC ID card which did not belong to him. Frazier was transported to jail without incident.

Sgt. William Burge was dispatched to an address on Main Street in Yantis for a theft report. According to the complainant, sometime during the night someone had taken a large bird cage from her open car port. Information was recorded regarding a possible suspect and the case was forwarded to CID.

Deputy Donivan South was dispatched to CR 4545 for theft of property after an employee of Wood County Electric came upon a man stealing wire while driving the line in response to an outage. According to the employee a man on a four wheeler was stealing ground wire. A description of the ATV and suspect was provided by the employee. South photographed several poles which were damaged in the theft and later located a man and ATV which seemed to match the description at a house nearby. Closer inspection revealed the man to be older than the suspect and the ATV had obviously not been moved for some time. After a brief explanation the man agreed to keep an eye out for the suspect. A damage estimate of $1,575 was received from Wood County Electric who also advised that 315' of #6 copper wire was taken. This case remains under active investigation.

Deputy Kevin Atkinson was dispatched to CR 3540 in reference to a disturbance. According to the complainant, he had been assaulted by his son after an altercation stemming from the man asking his son to leave and refusing to allow him to take a pickup truck. The complainant stated his son became enraged and burned property belonging to the complainant's girlfriend. He further stated he was struck in the jaw by his son while trying to prevent him from advancing on his girlfriend. The suspect had already left the residence prior to the deputy's arrival but information was given about a possible location. The suspect was later located and arrested. Coye Scott Brown, 26, of Hawkins is charged with assault causes bodily injury, family violence.

Deputy Kevin Atkinson took a report of debit card abuse from a complainant who resides on CR 3230 who stated someone had used her debit card to make purchases totaling $1,250 at Bed, Bath and Beyond; Sears and Babies R Us. The card was also used to transfer $275 through Western Union. According to the woman, the card is never used online. She also provided information about the only party who had access to the card information. This case has been forwarded and remains under investigation.

After an anonymous tip Sgts. Kyle Henson and Josh O'Grady were notified that there was a suspect who was placed into custody in the Quitman area for having an outstanding warrant. The suspect was found to be in possession of a large amount of drugs.

Following several other arrests related to property crimes, investigators are still following up on numerous leads and attempting to locate property to return to the rightful owners.

In the Yantis area there was also an arrest made on a suspect with an outstanding warrant while conducting follow up investigations.
