Council honors Taylor
Kevin Taylor has spent 37 years working for the city of Quitman.
He was honored at last Thursday’s city council meeting on the announcement of his retirement.
Mayor Randy Dunn introduced Taylor, noting that every time you turn on the tap and have good water, it doesn’t just happen. Taylor is one of the best in his line of work, Dunn said.
Taylor displayed a newspaper clipping from 1990 when the city got a new water plant.
“I had the greatest job in the whole city,” he said. He got to be at Lake Fork and watch the eagles fly by.
He will stay busy as he and his wife are building a new home, and they have 11 grandkids.
Taylor has also worked with a ministry in Mexico drilling water wells for communities in need.
He noted that during the 2021 record-breaking winter storm, Quitman’s water stayed on when many other communities were struggling.
He was presented a watch and some cash, and a luncheon was also held in his honor.
