County commissioners OK clerk’s plans for paperwork
Two requests from Wood County District Clerk Donna Huston were approved last week by Wood County commissioners.
They were a lease agreement with Xerox and an agreement with Precision Micrographics and Imaging.
“We went over with Precision Micrographics the difference between my office with me having to pay overtime or comp time to touch every single piece of paper. With the retention schedule with the Texas State Library, you have to follow this retention schedule and it has not been followed,” Huston noted. “I have tons and tons of paper. I would have to touch every single piece of paper to decide if it had to be scanned or destroyed. It would be cost effective to scan it all and then go back through and delete the ones that need to be deleted as opposed to digging through every single box.”
