County job changes for new year

Wood County commissioners ended the year acknowledging a series of job changes in the courthouse.

Kari Perkins, who has served as commissioners court coordinator and grant coordinator, resigned to go to work for the county judge’s office in Smith County.

Taking her place is Misty Goldman, who recently joined the commissioners office after working in the county auditor’s office.

Changes noted in the district attorney’s office include the resignation of investigator Jerry Hirsch, victim’s assistance coordinator Amanda McKinney leaving to join the district clerk’s staff, pay increase for administrative assistant Cheryl Collins and retirement of clerk Cynthia Dubois.

Kelly Box joined the auditor’s office full-time and Anita Bouma left the adult probation office.

Commissioners approved annual fire protection contracts with 12 fire departments ranging from $53,529 for Mineola and $52,633 for Quitman to $30,765 for Lands End.

Annual tax collection contracts with cities, school districts and other taxing units were approved.

Mineola ISD collects taxes for the city and school district, with all others contracting with the county.

Precinct Two Constable Kelly Smith was approved for out-of-state travel to the National Narcotics Detector Dog Association conference in Warner Robins, Ga. March 4-8. The expense comes from donated funds and includes $355 for membership and registration plus hotel and flight costs.

Approval was given to the Holland Hills subdivision on County Road 2540 in Precinct Two. It has six lots, all with road access.

The Feb. 20 meeting was rescheduled to Feb. 16 due to a seminar.
