Wood County commissioners approved annual racial profiling reports for several county law enforcement departments Monday.

The reports must be filed with the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement.

Three agencies, Precincts Two and Four constables and the county fire marshal, reported they are exempt from filing the reports because they do not make routine traffic stops.

Prec. Two Constable Kelly Smith reported that his office modified its practices midway through 2022 and no longer made routine traffic stops during 2023.

Prec. Four Constable Chase Glover and Fire Marshal Tully Davidson also reported they do not make routine traffic stops.

Detailed reports were also accepted for Precinct Three Constable John McQueen and the county sheriff’s department.

McQueen reported 21 traffic stops and the sheriff’s office 598.

County employment changes acknowledged by commissioners included hiring Candice L. Henry as an assistant district attorney and two changes in the sheriff’s department, Christian Wade from deputy to jailer and Kimberly Binnion from jailer to jail sergeant.

Submission of the annual grant from the governor’s office to fund victims’ services in the district attorney’s office was approved.

Jason Ray of Mineola was reappointed to be Wood County’s representative on the board of the Northeast Texas Regional Mobility Authority. His term was set to expire in February.

Prec. 3 Commissioner Mike Simmons gained approval to seek bids for a used tandem dump truck, to be awarded on March 5.
