Darrell Wilson  1943-2023

Darrell Wilson of Yantis passed away on May 25, 2023 in Allen.

He was born on Oct. 24, 1943 to LZ Wilson and Katherine Pauline Owen in Bells. He lived there until he was 10 when he moved to South Oak Cliff where he grew up and graduated. After high school, Darrell went to work as a jeweler in Dallas before going to work for Hine Pontiac. From there he went to work for Affiliated Foods in the warehouse, eventually moving his way to general manager over their non-foods department, health and beauty. For 12 years, Darrell worked for Triple B Foods, where he retired in 2007.

In 1961, Darrell met his wife of almost 60 years, Sandra Wilson, and together they loved fishing and catching anything from crappie to catfish and bass. He and Sandra welcomed their daughter Michelle in 1972.

Darrell was a great father and husband. He was a very charismatic person who loved everyone, and especially his fur babies. He had quite a few golden retrievers and labs. He would take them on the boat, played fetch in the yard, he’d do everything with them. Darrell lived a wonderful, long life and all that time, he never met a stranger or someone he didn’t want to brag on his daughter and son-in-law about.

Darrell is survived by his wife, Sandra Wilson of Yantis; daughter, Michelle Grigg and husband, Steve of Plano; fur babies, Ginger and Pebbles; and other loving family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, LZ Wilson and Katherine Pauline Owen, and sister, Nancy Smith.
