David Wayne Stevenson, 1957-2019

A visitation and memorial service for David Wayne Stevenson, 61, of Mineola will be Saturday, March 30 at 10 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 204 N. Johnson St., Mineola.

Mr. Stevenson died March 20, 2019, at Christus Trinity Mother Frances Hospital in Tyler. David donated his body to UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, the premier ALS treatment and research facility in the state.

He was born to Billy Wayne Stevenson and Constance Essary Stevenson on Aug. 9, 1957, in Commerce.  David spent 37 years faithfully serving the City of Mineola as a firefighter and eventual chief of the Mineola Volunteer Fire Department, an emergency dispatcher, city secretary, city administrator, and on numerous boards and professional organizations. In addition, he served as a guest instructor for 14 years at the Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service Texas Fire Training School in College Station. 

He was preceded in death by his beloved daughter, Amber Michelle Stevenson, and his parents.

David will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 42 years, Tami Thomas Stevenson, and their children, James David Stevenson, Ashlei Stevenson Jones, and John Thomas Stevenson. He will also be fondly remembered by his eight grandchildren.
