Wood County District Clerk Jenica Turner was honored for her 28 years of service to the county by family, friends and colleagues on Dec. 18 at the 402nd District Courtroom.

Turner began working for the county as a probation officer in 1990. She was sworn-in as district clerk on Labor Day 2003 and has served through 2018.

State Sen. Bryan Hughes gave thanks from the Texas Senate and presented Turner with an official gavel in gratitude for her service. State Rep. Cole Hefner thanked Turner for her service on the local level from the Texas House of Representatives.

Out-going Wood County Judge Bryan Jeanes gave her a plaque for her retirement. Turner was also presented a brick commemorating her years of public service. It will be placed at Gov. Jim Hogg City Park.

At the retirement party, Turner said it’s difficult to believe that it has been 28 years. She thanked her mother, father, daughter, family members, friends, and past and present co-workers.

“I’m filled with humility,” Turner said. “Thank you all so much. Within my office, I’ve had wonderful women to work with.”
