Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Aikman  1943-2023

Elizabeth “Beth” Ann Aikman, a beloved wife, mother and grandmother, peacefully passed away on Oct. 10, 2023 at her residence in Quitman. She was born on Jan. 23, 1943 in Richmond, Va. to Charles and Marie Esau.

Beth’s life journey was marked by countless achievements and cherished moments. She obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from the University of North Carolina, which laid the foundation for her successful career. Beth’s determination and leadership skills led her to serve as the senior vice president at Bank of America in Dallas for many years, before retiring in 2008.

Beyond her professional endeavors, Beth’s family was the cornerstone of her life. She married her loving husband, Kenneth Aikman, in 2001 and moved to Quitman soon after. She was a beloved “Granmama” to five grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Beth was also an active member of the First United Methodist Church in Quitman. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing bridge and was an avid reader. 

Beth was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Marie Esau; one sister, Suzanne Wilson; and one brother, Charles Esau.

Left to cherish her memory is her husband, Kenneth Aikman of Quitman; two children, Courtney Merrell and husband Jay of McKinney and Tom Cabe of Sanger; one brother, Ted Esau and wife Pamela of Mission Viejo, Calif.; five grandchildren, Grayson Merrell, Jordan and Alexa Aikman, and Reed and Drew Powell; one great-granddaughter; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
