Event to feature veterans resources

A veterans mobile information fair is planned March 5 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Gov. Jim Hogg Park in Quitman.

The Vet Center and the Longview VA Community-Based Outreach Clinic will be conducting this event.

Wood County Veterans Services Officer Steve Lucas coordinated the first-time fair and hopes to make it a regular event that will grow and include other veteran-related organizations.

Navigating healthcare benefits can be complicated. The team can assist veterans and their families complete enrollment applications to get deserved healthcare benefits as well as information about the Vet Center Services to those eligible veterans. The clinic staff will be on hand to administer flu shots for eligible veterans.

The Mobile Vet Center will be on site in the parking lot. This event is sponsored by the Department of Veterans Affairs, Readjustment Counseling Services and the Shreveport Vet Center.

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Come on over to Mineola’s beautiful Historic Select Theater and hear the Lake Country Symphonic Band’s Christmasy “Everything Christmas” concert.

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
