Filing deadline Friday in school, city elections

Friday is the last day to file for places on the ballot in the May 4 city council and school board elections. 

Mineola ISD will have an election, as two candidates have signed up for the two-year unexpired term, Lina Ortega and Tony Forsyth.

Incumbent Jay McGough and Jeffrey White have filed for the two three-year terms.

Todd Morgan is not seeking reelection to the two-year term.

Two incumbents have filed for three Mineola City Council positions, Cassandra Sampson in Ward Three and Sue Jones in Ward One.

The three Quitman City Council incumbents have filed for reelection, Todd Wright, Jack Robinson and Steve Glenn.

For the Quitman School Board, Shauna Attaway and incumbents Michael Hipp and Royce Patterson have filed for three positions. The Alba City Council incumbents are seeking reelection, Robert Kraemer, Tammy Kirkpatrick and Tim Westervelt.

Incumbents Terry Clark and Mike Ragsdale have filed for the two Alba-Golden School Board seats.

Ashly Vivion and Tyra Gilbreath Kenemore have filed for three seats on the Yantis School Board.

Three positions will be on the ballot for the Hawkins School Board.

No one had filed as of Tuesday afternoon.

The city of Hawkins election has drawn Deborah Rushing for the vacant mayor’s seat and council candidates Meredith Hancok for Place One and Norma Oglesby for Place Three.

The Yantis City Council has three seats, with incumbents Gerald Schmidt and Steve Judkins having signed up so far.
