Florida McKnight  1942-2022

Florida McKnight was born Sept. 19, 1942 in Mineola to the late Remus McKnight and Georgia McKnight. He passed away on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, in Mineola.

He attended school in Mineola and graduated from McFarland High School. He received a welder certificate from Kilgore Jr. College. Florida liked cars and learned automotive maintenance to pursue his passion. Florida married the love of his life, Wanda Harris, and they celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary on Oct. 28, 2022. He retired from Trane Air Conditioning after 39 years of service. He also owned and operated a lawn care service for over 35 years. He was a longtime member of Brocks Chapel United Methodist Church in Quitman. 

Florida enjoyed reading newspapers and watching Gunsmoke and Perry Mason. Oh yes, he also assisted the Lone Ranger and Tonto in managing the outlaws.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Callie Thomas; brother, George McKnight; and stepdaughter, Narsha Radford.

Florida is survived by his wife, Wanda McKnight; stepsons, Warren Rodgers and Melvin Radford; and one sister, Flora White. He will be missed by his nieces, nephews and a host of family members and friends.
