Following Billman’s resignation, county in search for new veterans service officer
Wood County is looking for a new veterans service officer.
Christi Billman submitted her resignation effective Nov. 6 after two years of service.
County Judge Kevin White said the county is accepting applications for the part-time position and will be conducting interviews.
Wood County commissioners acknowledged the resignation and other personnel changes Tuesday, Nov. 14.
Commissioners approved a request for proposals to lease the former tax office on E. Goode St. It has been vacant since the office moved into its new facility last year.
The county will once again participate in a federal hog eradication program through the Extension Service through a grant capped at $10,000.
The program will include a trap loan out program and educational programs.
A change was approved for the county employee prescription program for Walgreens, which took over operation of pharmacies in Brookshire’s stores.
Other personnel changes acknowledged include Cynthia Garcia, elections clerk, salary increase; Shannon Maloy, hired as jailer; Nicholas Carr, resigned as jailer; Jake Williams, moved from jailer to deputy.
The sheriff’s office was approved to trade a 2018 GMC pickup with 176,000 miles and a 2019 Chevrolet pickup with 100,000 miles for a 2019 Chevrolet pickup with 30,423 miles.
The appointment of Ben Hudman to the Wood County Airport board was approved.
