Former chief deputy pleads guilty to DWI charge
Former Wood County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Audrey “Nikki” Wright pleaded guilty and received a 15-month probation sentence in county court April 14.
Visiting Judge Sam Griffith accepted the agreement between Wright and the Wood County District Attorney’s Office.
Wright resigned the next day after being charged with driving while intoxicated following a one-vehicle wreck Aug. 16, 2021. Wright was booked into the Wood County Jail for driving while intoxicated with alcohol concentration of 0.15 or more. She bonded out the same day. Wright resigned from her position as chief the following morning.
Wright had been out on sick leave for a few days and was in her personal vehicle at the time of the wreck near Quitman.
