Going, going, gone
The old radio communications tower off East McDonald St. in Mineola came down last Wednesday to make way for a brand new tower that will host all of the City of Mineola and Mineola ISD radio communications. The city has been working on a solution to replace the aging tower after Suddenlink announced it would no longer service the tower. After first proposing to locate a tower at the Mineola Nature Preserve, the city was able to have the old tower site awarded to the city, and the new, taller tower will be put up shortly. The tower was felled by crews who disconnected one set of guy wires and allowed it to fall, where it was dismantled and hauled off.
