• The Forever Young Activity Center is hosting a Community Health Fair and blood drive Thursday in Quitman from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
• The Mineola League of the Arts is hosting their annual Quilt Show Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• Friday is the day of the annual Wood County Electric Cooperative meeting at Governor Jim Hogg City Park in Quitman. See story page 1A.
• In Wood County football Mineola travels to Farmersville, Alba-Golden travels to Lone Oak, Hawkins travels to Kerens and Winnsboro travels to Mount Vernon. Quitman is on a bye.
• Chicks in the Sticks is Friday and Saturday in downtown Mineola.
• The Mineola Rotary Club is hosting a Motorcycle Poker Run Saturday. The starting point will be from the Mineola Civic Center. Each entrant will check in between 10 and 10:45 a.m. the day of the run.
• The 36th annual Hawkins Oil Festival and Parade is Saturday. The festivities will run from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
• The 9th Annual Tractor Pull, Chili and Brisket cook-off s are set for Saturday at Hopkins County Civic Center in Sulphur Springs.
• The Hawkins FFA Alumni Association is hosting a Youth Livestock Show Saturday on the Hawkins ISD campus in the Red Harris AG Pavilion. Registration is 7-9 a.m. with the two-ring show beginning at 10 a.m.
• The Winnsboro Autumn Trails events will kick off and Saturday.
• The Lake Country Symphonic Band will perform at the Select Theater Sunday at 2 p.m. See story page 4A.
• The inaugural Mineola Marching Festival is Monday at Meredith
Memorial Stadium in Mineola. The festival will host 24 bands from
East Texas. The event begins at 9 a.m. and runs through 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $3 to the public and concessions will be available.
• Lake Country Playhouse in Mineola will hold open auditions for its Christmas musical, “Chaps: A Jingle Jangle Christmas.” Auditions are Monday and Tuesday at 7 p.m. at the Historic Select Theater in Mineola.
• Texans Against Crime night in Mineola is Tuesday. See story page 5A.
