ESL family literacy classes at Quitman Public Library
ESL family literacy classes will begin Thursday, Feb. 13 at the Quitman Public Library and will be held every Thursday until March 20, from 1-3 p.m.
The classes will emphasize bilingual reading within a family setting as a part of the traditional improvement of English abilities, and will provide parents with the resources to help their children develop good reading habits. Families will be able to learn about new children's books, meet other families, and make a family album.
Depending on the needs of the students, class time may also be devoted to regular ESL topics, including grammar, pronunciation and vocabulary. Lectura bilingual books are available at partnering libraries.
Family literacy classes are free to the public, and are funded by A Circle of Ten, as part of the "Gateway to Libraries" initiative. For more information contact the Quitman Public Library at 903-763-4191 or Gateway to Libraries at 903-589-6900.
Regular ESL classes are held at the library every Thursday from 4-6 p.m., and GED classes from 10 a.m. to noon.
