Hebron named regional officer
Wood County Judge Lucy Hebron was elected secretary/treasurer of the North & East Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association on July 15. The Association is a 74-county subregion of the County Judges and Judges Association of Texas (CJCAT), a statewide organization of county judges and county commissioners with more than 1,200 active members. Both groups promote the interests of county government through continuing education and active participation in governmental affairs, particularly the Texas Legislature.
Hebron was elected Wood County Judge in November 2018 and was sworn in in January 2019. Prior to entering public service, she was in private law practice in the East Texas area and served as past president of the Wood County Bar Association and as board member or officer in numerous civic and philanthropic organizations including the Tyler Youth Orchestra, Mineola Memorial Library Board, the Mineola Civic Center Foundation board, Lake Country Playhouse board, APET and Boy Scout Troop 385.
She serves as a member of the East Texas Area Council of Governments and is an adjunct professor at Tyler Junior College.
“I am looking forward to working on this board, representing and advocating on behalf of our North and East Texas judges and commissioners,” Hebron said. “Now, more than ever, the voices in rural Texas need to be heard in Austin, so I will be joining my colleagues in this important endeavor.”
