Howard King 1945-2024

Memorial services for Howard King, 78, of Alba were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 2, 2024 at Alba Methodist Church. Rev. John Epps officiated.

Mr. King passed away March 24, 2024 at his home in Alba. He was born Nov. 4, 1945 in Dalhart to Horace Howard Sr. and Pearl Bell Orr King. Howard married Virginia Gayle Wells in Maud on Dec. 22, 1966. He served as a United States Marine in the Vietnam War. Upon retiring from Meisel after 46 years, he and Virginia moved from Coppell to Alba in 2012. He was a member and served as a lay leader of the Alba Methodist Church. He was a member of the Lake Fork Golf Club and a boat captain for the Winnsboro High School fishing team. He also served as treasurer of Dale Creek Homeowners Association.

Howard was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Chester King. Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Virginia King of Alba; son, Keith King and wife Brittany of Coppell; and numerous nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Alba Methodist Church, Building Fund, P.O. Box 231, Alba, Texas 75410.

Special Olympics returns in style

Symphonic band presents Christmas concert

Concerts are Sunday, Dec. 17, at 2 p.m. and Tuesday evening, Dec. 19, at 7:30 p.m. Mike Holbrook is back in the director’s seat, so it’s sure to be a fun-filled couple of hours.
