Indictments returned in eight arsons tied to fireman
A Hainesville volunteer fireman has been indicted for eight counts of arson.
The Wood County Grand Jury handed down the indictments for the second degree felony last Wednesday.
Courtney Keel, 44, was first arrested on the charges on Sept. 28, 2021 after a series of nine suspicious fires in the area dating to 2020. The eight that resulted in charges were within two miles of his home during a one-year time frame.
Flares had been found at three of the sites.
Keel returned to assist in fighting the fires.
Keel was released the day after his arrest on bonds of $50,000 for each count.
