James (David) Smith

ALBA-Funeral services for James (David) Smith, 82 of Alba were held at Lake Fork Baptist Church, Alba October 22 with Perry Crisp, Randel Trull and Danny Meek officiating.

Burial followed at Lake Fork Memorial Cemetery, Alba.

Mr. Smith died October 19, 2018. He was born March 15, 1936 to William and Georgia Smith. He was a native of Edgewood, graduated from Edgewood High School and Stephen F. Austin University, North American Theological College. He also played football at Henderson County Junior College, Stephen F. Austin and the U.S. Army in Korea. He also served two years in the U.S. Army and spent one tour in Korea. He retired from Tyler ISD after 20 years of maintenance supervision.

He was a minister and pastured churches in Texas and Louisiana, including Lake Fork Baptist Church.

He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Ginger Smith of Alba; two sons and one daughter; Joey Smith of Choudrant, La, David Wayne Smith, Smithburg, Maryland and Jan Patterson of Tyler; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents ; two sisters and four brothers.
