John William (Bill) Roland 1925-2022

John William (Bill) Roland peacefully passed away at home at age 97. 

Bill was born in Fort Worth on Nov. 22, 1925 to Mary and Will Roland. Bill enjoyed a successful career as a business owner in the Metroplex. He served on the board of directors for Texas Commerce Bank and was active in the Masons until he retired and moved his family to the East Texas area in 1978. Bill loved raising and racing thoroughbred horses, working his horse farms, hunting and fishing, and most of all his family. He was a veteran of the United States Army and served in Okinawa during World War Two.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and Will Roland; sister, Lillian Beall; brother, Carl Roland; sons, Larry Roland and Steve Roland; granddaughters, Sherry Norris and Kim Ballard; and grandson, Stryder Gilbreath.

He is lovingly remembered by wife, Jeanie Roland; daughters, Donna Roland, Lynne Short and her husband Bob, and Lori Sigler and her husband John; and son, Johnny Roland and his wife Gayle.  

Grandchildren include Ryan Roland and wife Bobbi, Lindsey Hammond and husband Corey, Alexandria and her husband Greg, Kayla Spruell, Nic Roland, Scott Duncan and wife Lauri, John William Roland III, and Katina Landers and husband Joseph.

Bill also had 18 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
