Paula Christine Box of Yantis was sentenced to 20 years in prison and a $5,000 fine by District Judge Brad McCampbell last Thursday in 402nd District Court.

She was arrested on Jan. 14, 2023 and charged with manufacture or delivery of a controlled substance penalty group one, four grams or more but less than 200, a first degree felony.

She was indicted on March 23, 2023 and entered a guilty plea on May 30, 2024, waiving a jury trial.

Box previously served three years probation for possession of a controlled substance penalty group one less than one gram from 2013-2016.

Sheriff’s deputies seized 1.6 pounds of methamphetamine following a traffic stop near Yantis that resulted in three arrests.

A subsequent search warrant on County Road 1858 yielded another 3.5 ounces of methamphetamine.

Box bonded out the following day.

George Reschke and Falon Honea were arrested on the same charge, and both have remained jailed.

A jury trial has been scheduled Aug. 19 for Honea and Sept. 9 for Reschke.
