Alvis Claudine Mershon

ALBA-Memorial services for Alvis Mershon, 84, Commerce, formerly of Alba, are scheduled for 2 p.m. Sunday, October 2 at Park Street Baptist Church, Greenville, with family and Rev. Johnny Hailes officiating.

Mrs. Mershon died September 10, 2016, in Plano. She was born March 9, 1932, in Wolfe City to the late Albert and Pervie McAbee, worked for the postal service, retiring at the Alba Post Office. She was a member of the Church of Christ.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Phil Mershon; brothers, Thomas McAbee, Aubrey McAbee, Ben McAbee and Bervie McAbee; sister, Lettie Fisher; two infant sisters; two infant brothers and grandson and great-grandson.

Survivors include her twin sons, Alton Gates, Wichita Falls and Dalton Gates, Greenville; four grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
