The Quitman Lady bulldogs continued their winning ways to go 3-0 in District 12-3A action last week with two big road wins over Rains and Grand Saline.
The Lady Bulldogs took down Rains 25-15, 25-23, 25-19 giving them a 3-0 district slate and making them 17-10 for the year.
At Rains, Jentri Jackson had 10 digs, six kills, one ace, one block; Madalyn Spears 19 digs, 12 kills, three aces, one block; Shelby Hayes 13 digs, two kills, 22 assists, one block; Maddy Whitehurst one dig, five kills, two blocks; Ava Burroughs one dig, six kills, two blocks; and Lindsey Hornaday 13 digs, one ace.
On Tuesday, Quitman traveled to Grand Saline to take on a tough Lady Indian squad and came away with 25-23, 25-23, 19-25, 25-21victory.
For Quitman, Emma VanBecelaere had 12 digs; Julia Simpkins four digs, seven kills; Jackson 17 digs, seven kills, one ace, one block; Spears 22 digs, 16 kills; Hayes five digs, three kills, 31assists, one block; Burroughs two digs, eight kills; and Hornaday 16 digs, two kills, one ace.
The Lady Bulldogs finally get to play a pair of district games at home. Tuesday they host Wood County rival Alba-Golden and Friday they take district co-leader Edgewood, both matches at Ballard Memorial gym. Friday’s varsity start time is 4:30 p.m.
The Quitman JV team defeated Grand Saline and came in third in a tournament at New Diana Saturday. At New Diana the JV Lady Bulldogs beat New Diana 25-4, 25-9 and Pittsburg and 17-25, 26-24, 25-10 while falling to Spring Hill 21-25, 26-28.
