The Quitman Lady Bulldogs defeated Grace Community 36-27 on Tuesday, Nov. 28.

An 8-4 third period padded the lead to 28-18, and Quitman earned the win with eight points in the final quarter while allowing nine.

Ashley Davis found her teammates for six baskets to go with two points and two steals.

“When we calmed down after the first quarter, we played really well,” Coach Blake Hamrick said. “Annabelle played the best game she has played all year. Allie was a little banged up but rebounded and made some great passes. Ashley does little stuff that doesn’t always show up in the stat sheet but is important to our success. I was proud of how we responded against Grace after we had a rough 5-6 game stretch before Thanksgiving.”

Quitman travels to New Diana Friday with the JV tipping at 5.

The district schedule follows with the opener at Mineola Dec. 12.

The Lady Bulldogs particpated in the Winnsboro turnament over the weekend.
