Lady Bulldogs take three at White Oak


After falling to Lindale and Carthage in dual competition Tuesday, the Quitman Lady Bulldogs stormed back to take three straight Thursday at the White Oak Tournament.

Quitman took the first match against Center 25-8, 25-14 followed by a thrilling 26-24, 22-25, 25-15 win over Class 5A Pine Tree and finished with a 25-12, 25-20 win over Big Sandy.

Against Center: Jentri Jackson had two digs, seven kills, one ace; Madalyn Spears nine digs, nine kills; Emma VanBecelare eight digs, one kill, one ace; and Shelby Hayes seven digs, one ace, 22 assists.

Statistics against Pine Tree were: Jackson six digs, nine kills, one ace; Julia Simpkins three kills, two digs; Spears nine digs, six kills, three aces; Hayes eight digs, three kills, two aces, 23 assists; Maddy Whitehurst  two digs, three kills, one ace; Ava Burroughs one dig, four kills, three blocks; and Lindsey Hornaday had 11 digs.

In the final match Thursday against against Big Sandy Jackson had 10 digs, three kills, two aces;

Simpkins four digs, three kills, one block; Spears four digs, eight kills Hayes five digs, three kills, 19 assists; Whitehurst five digs, three kills; and Burroughs four kills.
