Lady Jackets drop opener to Brownsboro
The Mineola Lady Jackets opened the 2023 high school volleyball season with a four-game loss at Brownsboro last Tuesday.
The hosts opened with 25-19, 25-28 wins before Mineola rallied for a 25-22 win in the third game. Brownsboro closed out the match 25-22.
Leaders for Mineola were as follows:
Kills: Olivia Hughes 9; Jaycee Maag 5; Kali Chrietzberg 4
Assists: Olivia Hughes 9; Trinadee Jackson 6
Digs: Caroline Castleberry 11; Trinadee Jackson 7; Carmen Carrasco, Hughes and Maag 6
Aces: Olivia Hughes 4 and Jaycee Maag 3
Blocks: Kyra and Jayla Jackson 2 each and Hughes 2.
JV1: Lost 0-2
JV2: Won 2-0
The Lady Jackets competed in the Tyler tournament. In the Bronze A bracket Saturday, Mineola defeated Pine Tree 25-23, 18-25, 25-21 and lost to Sanger 25-11, 25-18 and Marshall 25-23, 25-19.
