Lady Jackets split games gearing up for start of regular season action
The Mineola Lady Jackets continue to hone their skills as district play is now a short week away. The Lady Jackets fell to Brook Hill High School in an August 28 standalone match, while racking up a win against Rice Consolidated School District, and losses against Mabank and Huntington at the Brownsboro Tournament.
As Coach Kerry VanCleave noted, “Pre-season tournaments give us the opportunity to expose our strengths and weaknesses then build off and fix things we need to before district play starts.” The tournament format gives teams lots of games to play in a short period of time which greatly assists in this effort, VanCleave noted.
The Lady Jackets will host Tyler Grace on Tuesday, September 4 and will visit Commerce on Friday September 7 in the last two pre-season matches. District play for Lady Jackets commences Tuesday September 11 just up the road at Alba-Golden.
