Lee James’s efforts pay off with money to purchase new neighborhood crime watch signs for Mineola
Thanks to the diligent efforts of Lee James, the Mineola Police Dept. has been able to purchase new neighborhood crime watch signs.
James spent more than two years retrieving the funds from the former Mineola Neighborhood Watch organization which had gone defunct.
In November he donated the unclaimed funds to the police department to be used for items to help in crime fighting efforts.
The department has purchased new signs to replace some that have faded or otherwise need replacing, as well as some additional signs if any Mineola neighborhoods would like to join the crime watch effort.
Citizens should contact the police department to express interest in having the signs erected.
“On behalf of the department, we would like to express our appreciation to Lee James for his diligent, time consuming effort in recovering these funds and we wanted to be sure it went back into the community,” said Capt. Dusty Cook.
