Main Street brings back fun pianos

Posted

Plans are underway for the Mineola Main Street Program’s Dueling Pianos fundraiser on Saturday, April 13 at the Mineola Civic Center. This is the second year the program has brought the Killer Dueling Pianos of Visalia, Calif. to perform at this fun event.

The board is seeking sponsors and selling tables. Money raised goes to purchase and install Christmas decorations, grants to improve the Main Street District and other events including assisting with the Snow Hill this past Christmas, Music in May and the Sabine Stomp for the 150th celebration.

Last year’s event was a huge hit, and many had asked if the program would be brought back. For many years, the Main Street Program hosted the Amtrak Wine Train to increase awareness of the availability of passenger train travel and as a highly successful fundraiser for the program which has put thousands of dollars back in the community. Since Amtrak is not able to provide the equipment and staff, the Main Street Board chose to bring some of the fun its Amtrak travelers had experienced over the years in Fort Worth.
