Social justice awareness marches on
Mineola’s March for Awareness of Social Justice begins at 6 p.m. and ends around 6:50 each Thursday, starting at the gazebo in downtown Mineola, and heads north to Walmart (or as far as participants can make it). According to a pamphlet handed out to attendees at the cemetery fence removal Wednesday morning, the march’s purpose is to “let people know we are informed about the social (racial) grievances that are happening in our country, and that we stand against these acts of violence.” Those unable to walk some or all of the route can provide transport back to downtown and are encouraged to make appropriate signs in support of the cause.
